The Opportunity

Based at our state-of-the-art CUBE Construction Centre – a modern, purpose-built facility, you will be responsible for delivering specialist teaching that supports learners in developing practical, hands-on skills essential for working in the construction industry. Working closely with Course Leaders and other colleagues, you’ll plan, prepare and deliver lessons that reflect real-world plastering practices and current industry standards. Your sessions will combine classroom-based theory with workshop-based practical learning, ensuring learners gain the technical knowledge and the physical skills required for success in the trade.

You will be delivering teaching across a range of levels, supporting both full-time learners and apprentices as they work towards qualifications in construction plastering. This may include teaching core plastering techniques such as solid plastering, fibrous plastering, drylining, rendering and external finishes. You will guide students using materials, tools, and health and safety practices, ensuring they understand industry expectations and are well prepared for the workplace.

You will also:

• Create engaging and inclusive learning materials tailored to a variety of learning styles and abilities
• Deliver demonstrations, lead small group sessions and provide one-to-one support to suit learner needs
• Use a range of teaching strategies to keep learners motivated and help them make steady progress
• Assess practical work accurately and consistently, offering constructive feedback to support development
• Encourage high standards of workmanship and professionalism in all learning activities
• Maintain and develop a safe, well-organised workshop environment that reflects real working conditions
• Promote professional behaviour, teamwork and time management as core employability skills
• Work closely with employers, local businesses and sector organisations to provide learners with insight into career paths and industry expectations

Through your subject knowledge, teaching expertise and support, you’ll play a key role in equipping our students with the practical capabilities and confidence to move successfully into employment, further training or apprenticeships within the plastering and construction sector.

About You

You will be someone with strong occupational experience in the Construction sector, particularly in plastering, and have a genuine interest in supporting others to develop their skills. You will have a solid understanding of the structure and function of the Construction industry, and you’ll be confident in delivering practical plastering sessions from beginner Level 1 through to advanced Level 3 standard. Your teaching will reflect industry expectations and help learners build the practical and professional skills they need to progress.

You will have experience of teaching across a range of levels within the Construction curriculum, ideally from Level 1 to Level 3, and you will know how to adapt your approach to suit learners with different needs and abilities. Your ability to deliver clear, effective demonstrations and maintain learner engagement will be essential, as will your experience of assessing student progress and maintaining accurate records.

You will bring excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, professional relationships with students, colleagues and external stakeholders. You will have a track record of working with construction companies and organisations, and ideally, you will have experience of leading or supervising students on external visits or activities. Your understanding of industry practice will help learners gain insight into real-world expectations.
