Earn circa £50,000 pa negotiable based on skills and experience plus brilliant benefits including health cash plan!

Home, a place where you belong

Ever feel like you’ve got more to give, but your current role’s holding you back? This could be your moment. We’re looking for a Senior Web Developer to join the Digital Development Team here at Home Group. You’ll step into the role as our internal technical expert, the one others turn to for advice, ideas and clever fixes. It’s a chance to lead from the front, shape how we build things and leave your mark on the way we work.

You won’t just be coding. You’ll be guiding. You’ll be the calm, clever voice in sprint planning, the go-to for junior developers who want to learn, and the problem solver when something’s gone wobbly. And best of all, the tools you create will help improve lives, not profit margins. If you’re ready to use your skills where they really matter, this could be the move that makes it all click.

What you’ll do

  • Build clean, accessible and high-performing digital solutions with React, NodeJS and TypeScript

  • Lead technical decisions and contribute to coding standards across the team

  • Mentor junior developers and support their growth through regular guidance and feedback

  • Play a key role in agile ceremonies and help improve how we plan and deliver work

  • Investigate and resolve live issues to keep our services reliable and secure

  • Work with designers, testers and product owners to shape digital tools that make life easier for our customers

Why choose us

Imagine finishing each day knowing you’ve made a real difference in our customers’ lives. That’s exactly what you’ll do here, working for a top 10 Great Place to Work in the UK!

You’ll have the space to lead, the trust to make decisions and the satisfaction of building tools that genuinely help people.

What you bring

  • Proven full stack development experience using NodeJS, React and TypeScript

  • Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, especially Azure, and CI/CD pipelines

  • Skilled in SQL and noSQL databases, GraphQL and building scalable data structures

  • Experience guiding technical decisions and mentoring others in a collaborative way

  • A calm, clear communicator who thrives in agile environments

  • An interest in clean, test-driven code and modern development tools like NestJS and NextJS

We’re sorry, but we can’t offer sponsorship for this role due to certificate limits. We do review this regularly.

Job details

  • You’ll work Monday to Friday

  • This is a full-time role and we work 7.5 hours per day.

  • You’ll manage your own diary, so if you want to take a longer lunch, you can use your flexi time to manage that!

  • This is a hybrid role and you’ll spend 2 days a week in our central Newcastle upon Tyne offices and the rest working from home.

A place where you belong

We do our best work when we can be ourselves. That’s why inclusion and wellbeing shape our policies and daily practice. Our diversity networks, Multicultural, LGBTQIA+, Women, and Disability, along with peers and allies, help us thrive. Together we make Home Group a great place to work!

What’s in it for you?

  • Enjoy 2 days volunteering, 34 days leave (this includes bank holidays and a "me day"!), increasing to 39, and the option to buy five days more (subject to criteria).

  • Save up to £1140 yearly with our health cash plan, covering dental, optical, and therapies.

  • 800+ discounts or cashback on shopping, holidays, and more.

  • We’re a top 10 UK Wellbeing employer, our tools and support are here when you need them!

  • Grow your career with us, we’ll help you take the next step.

  • Generous pension and 3x salary life insurance. Check more benefits online!
