Summary

Health and Safety Co-ordinator - Fixed Term for 6 months

Hull

Working Hours: 18.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary: £24,532 FTE per annum (Actual Salary £12,266 per annum)

Annual Leave: 145 hours per annum

As our Health and Safety Co-ordinator, you will support the implementation and management of health, safety, and welfare programs and initiatives

The post holder will work closely with the Health and Safety Officers, Director of Health and Safety and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and create a safe and healthy environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities of our Health and Safety Co-ordinator:


Provide accurate advice, support and guidance to managers and staff on health, safety and welfare matters, referring complex cases to Health, Safety and Welfare Officers or managers.
Prioritise and manage all incoming communications and ensure timely responses to emails, letters and internal queries. Ensure timely management of the Health, Safety and Welfare email inbox, providing initial responses or escalating appropriately.
Extract and analyse data to produce visual and written reports for internal meetings and for Corporation, including statistics on accidents, near misses and risk management trends.
Manage the health and safety policy log, ensuring owners are supported and policies are kept current; aligning them with legal requirements and industry best practices. Ensure effective communication of policies and procedures with relevant stakeholders.
Co-ordinate and monitor health, safety and welfare inspections across sites, track compliance, identify trends and provide monthly update reports.
Conduct a wide range of administrative duties, including correspondence, data processing, scanning, filing and document formatting, maintaining records, organising training programs, coordinating inspections, and ensuring that necessary documentation is up to date.
Support the planning, coordination and delivery of health, safety and welfare training, inductions, meetings, workshops, or seminars and tracking participation and compliance.
Attend witness interviews for health and safety investigations and manage the reporting and investigation of incidents, accidents, or near misses, producing transcripts and supporting legal and audit preparations.

Liaise with stakeholders: collaborate with various stakeholders within the college, including staff, students, Curriculum, and Estates personnel, to promote a culture of safety and ensure effective communication and cooperation regarding health, safety, and welfare matters.


What we’re looking for in our Health and Safety Co-ordinator:


GCSE English & Maths Grade C/ 2 or equivalent
IOSH Working Safely or equivalent

Recent experience working within an office environment


Knowledge and experience of using computer software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access

Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to use critical thinking to identify learning and promote continual improvements to health and safety
