We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen operations and uphold our standards of excellence.
Job Description:
As Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu development, staff training, inventory management, and ensuring food hygiene compliance. You will lead by example and bring creativity, efficiency, and leadership to the kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the kitchen team, ensuring high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation
* Create and refine traditional and modern Indian dishes tailored to the UK market
* Develop seasonal menus and ensure cost-effective planning and production
* Oversee food preparation and cooking to ensure compliance with Food Safety and Hygiene regulations
* Ensure all food safety documentation is up to date and regularly audited
* Maintain stock control, manage suppliers, and ensure accurate ordering
* Train and mentor junior kitchen staff
* Collaborate with restaurant management to ensure smooth kitchen-to-floor communication
* Ensure health and safety protocols are strictly followed in the kitchen
* Contribute to overall business growth through innovation and customer satisfaction
Mandatory Requirements:
* Minimum 10 years of experience as a chef, with a strong background in Indian cuisine
* Experience working in Indian restaurants in the UK is essential
* Valid Food Safety & Hygiene Level 3 (or higher) certification
* Personal Alcohol Licence holder (or willingness to obtain one)
* Strong leadership and team management skills
* Knowledge of allergen information and labelling regulations (Natasha’s Law)
* Right to work in the UK
* Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
Desirable:
* NVQ Level 3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent qualification
* Experience with inventory and cost management software
* Understanding of dietary requirements (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc.)
* First Aid at Work certification
