Summary
Consultants work to deliver continuity of care on the unit. Activity is led by a consultant of the week (Mon-Thu 8am-6pm followed by Friday MDT Chair 11am-1pm). Weekends are split and rostered separately to support sustainable working patterns (Friday 8am-1pm/Saturday 24 hours or Friday/Sunday 24 hours). There is a second Consultant intensivist of the day (8am-1pm Mon-Fri) who supports unit activity and the Critical Care outreach service. The on-call Consultant takes handover from the daytime Consultant at 4pm. On-call is resident 4pm 8:30pm and non-resident on call after 8.30pm.
