Summary

Grade AMN3: £107,144 to £142,369 per annum

College of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine / School of Neurological and Cardiovascular Sciences

Full-time: 40 hours per week

Open-ended (permanent)



The Opportunity:

To inspire and execute cutting-edge research in Cardiovascular Imaging through leadership and collaboration and to train the next generation of clinicians and scientists. To impart knowledge through teaching, by facilitating student learning, and through public engagement and publications. To contribute to clinical cardiology services of NHS Lothian.

Placement on the payscale will be subject to consultant seniority as per the Clinical Consultant Contract. The successful applicant will be also be offered an additional Academic EPA. You must appear on the GMC Specialist Register and be eligible to hold an honorary consultant contract with NHS Lothian. If you are currently a member of the NHS Pension Scheme and are employed in a clinical post it may be possible for you to remain a member of the NHS Pension Scheme.



Your skills and attributes for success:

GMC registered medical practitioner with a licence to practice and be on, or eligible to join, the Specialist Register
A PhD and expansive experience in academic echocardiography research over a sustained period with a track record of international standing in cardiovascular research
An established outstanding international research reputation in valvular heart disease and echocardiography, with a track record of publications in leading peer-reviewed international journals commensurate to the level of the post
Demonstrated ability to secure substantial research funding
Experience of teaching and supervision at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level with a sound knowledge of current teaching and learning methods in higher education
