Summary

20 – 30 hours - some daytime, evening and sleep ins are required as this is a 24hr service. You will also be required to work some weekends and bank holidays.

We have some exciting opportunities available across our Supported Living Service in Bury.

About you
You don’t need to have previous experience of working in social care, what’s important is that you are caring, a good communicator, patient, creative, able to work on your own initiative, show empathy and that you can work as part of a team. Most of all we are looking for someone who shares our values. You will want to take time to get to know the people you support so that you can build a relationship of trust with them.

Flexibility is important as you will work on a rota basis. The rotas include a mix of shifts, including full days, short early mornings, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep ins.

About the role
Being a support worker can be a very rewarding job. Even though the role can often be challenging, making a positive difference to someone’s life and enabling them to become more independent brings feelings of accomplishment and satisfaction. It’s a great career choice for those who enjoy a varied job role and lots of interaction with others.

You will support people with a variety of activities such as managing their finances, cooking, cleaning and shopping. In your role, you will follow comprehensive planning and risk assessments, to ensure that everyone you support achieves positive outcomes.
Some of the people we support need support with personal care such as bathing, dressing and undressing, managing medication, catheter care and support with their mobility. We also support people with learning disabilities, mental health conditions, dementia and long-term or chronic physical conditions who might communicate physically to get their needs met.

There’s lots of fun to be had too, as we actively encourage people to engage in a variety of activities such as going on long walks, joining in with virtual activity sessions, baking and much more. We also like to support people to be active members of their local community, so you may be supporting people to go to the cinema, swim, eat out, go shopping, volunteer or go to college or work.

Please note
Satisfactory disclosure at the appropriate level under the Disclosure and Barring Service is required prior to appointment.
