Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
Mounts Bay Academy is a caring and dynamic Academy where students are placed
at the centre of everything we do. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum to
all our students, who are set challenging academic and personal targets and given
the inspiration to succeed. We are proud of the integrated and inclusive support we
provide to students, in particular those with special educational needs or on pupil
premium.
The behaviour mentor will work with a range of students supervising the reset room
as well as working one to one with these students providing support and challenge
in order to encourage them to make good behavioural decisions.
We are seeking to appoint an efficient and enthusiastic individual with excellent
communication skills to work with young people in our busy academy. The successful
candidate will be approachable, calm, caring yet firm, have good ICT skills and
experience of working with and supporting students. A high standard of literacy and
numeracy is essential for this post, as is the enthusiasm to help raise the achievement
levels of students.

Maintain high standards of behaviour and promote positive behavioural
strategies for students under your supervision.
• Liaise with staff for the provision of work for students to complete.
• To work closely and collaboratively with all staff concerns around behaviour in
school.
• To manage behaviour support for students in the reset room and ensure it works
efficiently and effectively throughout the day, supervision of students when they
have been sent to the reset room to reflect.
• To monitor student behaviour in the reset room, upholding high expectations of
both work and behaviour for learning.
• To work in collaboration with Heads of Year in relation to student behaviour and
expectations in the isolation room.
• To maintain regular formal and informal contact with staff to ensure high quality
and consistent provision of work in the reset room.
• To assist with the recording of children’s behaviour using the academy Arbor
system.
• To carry out administrative tasks associated with all the above duties.
• To attend staff meetings and academy-based INSET as required.
• The post holder is responsible for his/her own self-development on a continuous
basis.
• To undertake other duties appropriate to the grading of the post as required.
• To maintain confidentiality of information acquired while undertaking duties.
• Liaise with Heads of Year and key staff regarding the behaviour and learning
difficulties of students.
• To perform other duties to promote appropriate behaviour and support Heads of Year
