An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist to be part of our Adults Autism Intensive Support Team for Coventry and Warwickshire.If you are a driven and passionate Occupational Therapist and want to work with Autistic adults who are at risk of admission to hospital due to their mental health, then we want to hear from you.

Occupational Therapy is a valued part of the team and this role along with the other Occupational Therapists are an integral part of the specialist multidisciplinary Team. The team works closely with the other services with in CWPT such as Specialist Mental Health Service, and the Neurodevelopmental Team. There are also close links with community services including Social Care, Education and the local Community Autism Support Service and Keyworker team hosted by MIND.

As an Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist you will work with the adult and their family/carer’s to fully understand their strengths and needs and what is impacting on their emotional well-being and their participation in daily occupations.You will provide advice and recommendations regarding improving their occupational performance in areas of self-care, leisure and education in a person-centred and meaningful way; this will be through goal-setting using a SMART framework; grading and modifying tasks and environments that may be challenging, overwhelming or under stimulating; developing sensory diets based on the individuals needs and sensory profile; contributing to differential diagnoses through specialist assessments and observations

Significant experience is essential:

· Assessment skills and working holistically with young people/adults and their families

· Multi-agency working and the ability to work alongside the MDT in carrying out interventions and therapy

· A working knowledge of Autism and the ability to support the development of individual Autism profiles

· A working knowledge of the Model of Human Occupation, its application and related assessments is essential, as is the ability to work alongside the MDT in carrying out therapeutic interventions.

· Knowledge and experience of applying a sensory integration frame of reference is also desirable to this role.

Good working knowledge of Autism and mental health is essential for this role, as well as evaluating outcomes from assessment and interventions, through using both team and occupational therapy outcome measures.

Experience in service development and supervision of others is essential.
