This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Business Services Department as a Logistics Driver.
As a Logistics Driver you will provide a dedicated driving / logistic function for Northumbria Police to ensure the timely, safe and secure delivery of mail, PPE and forensic samples both within the force area and to nominated sites elsewhere wherever operational requirements dictate.
What you’ll do
Undertake driving duties on set routes to provide a professional delivery and collection service in relation to mail deliveries and ad-hoc tasking to support the in-house logistics service. This also includes providing a collection and delivery service to Stores, between property stores across the force estate.
Provide a dedicated secure driving service in order to contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the collection and delivery of forensic samples, including collection from custody suites to dedicated testing sites. This includes fingerprint bureau, shoe match and external facilities outside the force area.
Collect digital forensic devices and equipment to ensure the prompt examination and presentation at court of evidence in a discreet and timely manner.
To support other departments in delivering new ways of working, via the delivery of home working equipment to the work force this includes supporting Estates Department & Digital Policing with service requests.
You will work a 37-hour week, covering the period 08:00 - 16:00 hours, Monday to Friday, with flexible daily hours.
What you’ll bring
You will need a full driving licence and able to drive manual vehicles including transit sized vans.
Excellent communication skills.
The ability to plan your route and deliver on time
The flexibility to change plans at short notice due to weather/force needs
A reasonable level of fitness is required for this role due to manual handling
