Summary


We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 children’s nurse to join our Children’s diabetes Team. The post is a part time, fixed term contract working 22.5hr a week.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in children’s diabetes. This role will support the Diabetes Team in the delivery of care, education of children and young people and families in the use of technology and management of their diabetes. The role offers training and support, including care planning for schools.

This role will work predominantly with Teenagers and young people so excellent communication skills and an ability to work dynamically is essential.

We are looking for a children's nurse with an interest in Diabetes to join our Children’s diabetes team at York Hospital. The role will involve working predominantly with secondary school aged children and young people. Providing support to newly diagnosed young people and their families, ensuring optimum diabetes control throughout childhood and transition into adult services. Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team the Children’s Diabetes Nurses provides a holistic approach to the health, social and psychological well-being of diabetic children.

This is a secondment opportunity for a 1 year fixed term contract, working 22.5 hours per week over 3 days, Monday-Friday. The post is based at York hospital but will require the ability to travel across the region to provide home and school visits.

The role will also involve training colleagues and educational staff to ensure that the children and their families receive the highest levels of care.
