Summary

To support the learning, development, and wellbeing of children within the Preschool setting through structured and unstructured play activities. Additionally, to act as the the SENDCo, ensuring that the needs of children with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are identified and supported, in line with statutory guidance and Preschool policies.

Play Assistant Duties:

Engage children in age-appropriate play and learning activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
Set up, supervise and tidy away play areas and activities.
Foster a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment for all children.
Support children's personal, social, and emotional development, encouraging positive relationships.
Observe and record children's progress, sharing relevant information with the Preschool team and parents/carers.
Assist with daily routines, including snack times, hygiene routines and outdoor play.
Promote safeguarding, health, and safety practices always.
SENDCo Duties:

Identify and assess the needs of children with SEND in collaboration with staff, parents/carers, and external professionals.
Develop, implement, and review Individual Support Plans for children with additional needs.
Provide guidance and support to staff on inclusive practices and differentiated activities.
Liaise with external agencies (e.g. Health visitors, speech therapists, educational psychologists to coordinate additional support.
Ensure the Preschool meets its statutory obligations under the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and relevant legislation.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of SEND-related matters.
Promote an inclusive ethos where all children can thrive and achieve their potential.
Attend monthly staff meetings.
