Summary

FUNCTION:
The Operations Manager holds responsibility for the management of all personnel under their control, work scope, and budget controls for key industrial and infrastructure projects. They are also responsible for developing site procedures to meet key business objectives, adhere to timescales, build an effective professional working partnership with clients, comply with specifications, and maintain a reputation for delivering excellent customer services to ensure contract retention.

RESPONSIBILITIES
General:

Establish all systems using the company’s Integrated Management System.

Implement field processes and procedures that ensure effective project management throughout the lifecycle.

Prioritize safety and visibility of project milestones.

Ensure facilities are properly equipped, organized, and supported with adequate resources and information to operate safely and effectively.

Promote standardized approaches using the management system across all projects.

Programme Planning:

Develop detailed project work scopes and schedules.

Oversee procurement and reconciliation of materials to avoid delays and maximize value.

Ensure compliance with commercial policies and procedures.

Attend client meetings and deliver pre-start briefings to site teams.

Collaborate with the Commercial Manager to ensure commercial planning and forecasting are conducted monthly.

Produce and analyze progress reports, cost updates, and work scope forecasts for senior management.

Implement risk management processes, including regular risk reviews.

Ensure documentation for each project scope is prepared and distributed to relevant parties.

Lead weekly reviews of progress, budgets, and forward planning.

Oversee distribution of Contract Initiation/Completion forms.

Chair and attend meetings, ensuring accurate documentation of discussions and actions.

Ensure timely and effective design management (temporary and permanent works).

Verify job responsibilities of Paint Managers and Quality Control Inspectors.

Participate in daily shift handovers.

Support internal and third-party audits.

Lead root cause analysis processes (e.g., 8D/5 Whys).

Monitor costs and performance metrics for each work package.

Provide daily operational updates to the paint management and inspection teams.

Coordinate closely with project coordinators on schedules, risks, and opportunities.

Drive operational improvements and ensure project specification compliance.

Monitor field personnel performance and quality assurance across painting/blasting teams.

Oversee inspection activities and ensure technical compliance and knowledge sharing.

Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE):

Set high standards in promoting HSEQ procedures and best practices.

Assign HSEQ responsibilities, verify understanding, and provide necessary training.

Keep HSE documentation up to date.

Conduct senior management site inspections and produce audit reports.

Quality:

Ensure Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and inspection "Hold" points are prepared, communicated, and implemented.

ACCOUNTABILITY:
Reports directly to the Project Director and works closely with all stakeholders in managing contracted project works.

PROFILE:
The Operations Manager shall be fully conversant with statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to industrial service operations and project management within the sectors they operate.
