Summary

JOB SUMMARY Consultant referral physiotherapy treatment service Job Purpose: To provide a high standard of physiotherapy service to musculoskeletal outpatients referred by DHC consultants. Conditions will include a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions including post-operative orthopaedics, arthritic conditions, and patients presenting with acute, chronic and or complex spinal pain. We also provide an expanding Womens Health service experience in this field and membership of POGP (Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy) is desirable but not essential. Training opportunities for this role will be considered for the right candidate. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To be professional and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients in your care. To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management. Formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy treatment programme based on an advanced knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and a broad knowledge and understanding of treatment skills. To provide care which is tailored to the individual needs. This would include appraising the impact of individuals' clinical status on their general health, well-being, employment status (including in relation to function, physical activity, mobility and independence). To support patients to set their own goals and be confident in their approach to self-management To communicate effectively and appropriately with patients and carers complex and sensitive information regarding diagnosis, pathology and prognosis. To be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient treatment records in line with Chartered society of Physiotherapy (CSP) standards of practice. To manage a complex caseload (including patients with long-term conditions, comorbidities and multi-factorial needs), To be accountable for decisions and actions via HCPC registration, supported by a professional culture of peer networking/review and engagement in evidence-based practice To ensure that your own practice and that of the staff under your supervision meets the required professional standards of physiotherapy. Works with MDT to develop more effective and streamlined clinical pathways and services WORK SETTING AND REVIEW To manage own workload efficiently and effectively on a daily basis. Maintain confidentiality pertaining to clients and staff at all times. Make decisions pertaining to the smooth and efficient running of the department and where necessary referring problems to management or the appropriate consultant via the quickest route possible. Be able to work with a degree of autonomy, which comes from experience. Work to objectives as set by the Service Manager, Line Manager and Clinical SupervisorINDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITIES Adhere to DHC policies and procedures and relevant legislation including the requirements of any professional bodies. Attend mandatory training as identified by DHC. Apply and adhere to agreed policies, procedures, protocols including national initiatives and propose changes on improvements to departmental working practices. Participate in reflection, self-evaluation and continuous professional development including performance review. Ensure mandatory training is up-to-date at all times. Contribute to ongoing projects as required. Maintain and encourage safe working practices and environment in accordance with local Health and Safety policies. Comply with the requirements of the Caldicott Report, Data Protection Act, Access to Health Records Act and subsequent legislation issued in relation to confidential data. CONFIDENTIALITY The post holder must maintain the confidentiality of information about patients staff and DHC business in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and Caldicott principles.
