Personal Care Assistant for a person P/T@ £12.60/hr in BS16 - 8 hrs per week
Apply at UKCIL.com. Reference: f99330dd
I am looking for a PA to support me in my home for a total of 8 hours a week in Fishponds. This ideally would be 4 hours in the mornings to early afternoon, covering lunch. Due to my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME (CFS/ME)
I am looking for a PA who is compassionate and takes initiative. We will provide a basic training to have working knowledge of CFS/ME.
My condition is an invisible illness. It has me trapped in my body and mind, where I am only able to complete tasks that have two to three stages. Often these are ‘have to do’ tasks. We are hoping that with PA completing these, I can have the energy to experience life again.
The main areas of need are Personal and Domestic Care.
Duties to include:
- Awareness of my CFS/ME limitations to support me accordingly These will change each session or get bad during the session
- Assistance with bathing and hair washing
- planning food diary and shopping lists This will include checking what is already in the house
- Cooking meals with some shopping
- Housework and laundry
- Support with medical appointments and prescription collection
Main duties will vary day by day depending on my needs for that day and my energy levels.
What I expect from my PA-
- I am not used to having anyone in my home for more than an hour so the start will be very challenging for me, I need someone who is professional and learns fast
- someone who would observe and understand my energy levels for that day- support me in managing my expectations of that day- be able to adapt and manage duties to accommodate my varying energy levels- have understanding/compassion/awareness of how I am, particularly when I can not explain myself , this will vary on every visit
- someone who is kind and non judgmental who leaves me energised
- someone who is happy to scaffold me in tasks during the times when I am able
I have many interests which include listening to books when I can, gardening with full supervision, very limited visits from friends, simple and easy going gentle films watched over a length of time , rugby union and other major sports events.
Things that are important to me-
- reliability is paramount to me
- clear non-judgemental communication
- independence to complete tasks without supervision or constant instruction
- honesty
- sensitivity to my mental clouding and condition
- careful planning and structured activities to ease my confusion and fatigue
Training is available from us around Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME so that you can best support me. Including online training from the hospital
Two references required
I will be requesting every successful candidate undertake a DBS check.
