Summary
The duties of the Contract Manager role will include:
-Acting as the main point of contact for the Senior Contracts Manager, clients, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project delivery from planning to completion.
-Leading the development of construction programmes, phasing plans, and buildability reviews to support project managers.
-Overseeing site activities to ensure high-quality work, timely completion, and adherence to contract drawings and specifications.
-Managing site teams and subcontractors effectively, while monitoring contract costs, allowances, and financial performance.
-Preparing and maintaining Health and Safety documentation, including method statements, risk assessments, and incident reporting.
-Coordinating and implementing contract changes in collaboration with the quantity surveyor and project manager.
-Supporting stakeholder and community engagement, ensuring clear communication and responsiveness to local concerns.
-Driving performance improvements, support team development, and assist in programme planning alongside the Programme Manager.
What skills and experience do you need?
We’re looking for a confident and professional Contract Manager with extensive experience in the construction and highways industry, and a strong working knowledge of NEC contracts. You will be customer-focused, with a passion for delivering excellent service and operating to high standards. You’ll thrive in a collaborative environment, ensuring all stakeholders are engaged and aligned throughout the project lifecycle. You should be educated to at least GCSE level (or equivalent) and ideally hold a construction-related qualification such as a Degree, NVQ Level 4/5, or HNC/HND. Possession of a CSCS Black Managers Card or an equivalent professional qualification is essential, as is a full UK driving licence. A safety management qualification such as SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely would be an advantage.
