About the Role
As a Business Administrator Apprentice at Horizons Homecare, you’ll be a vital part of our office team, supporting the day-to-day running of a busy and compassionate care service. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in business administration while working in a supportive, professional, and values-led environment.
No two days are the same — and your role will be varied, practical, and people-focused.
Key Responsibilities
You will be supported and trained to carry out tasks such as:
Answering telephone calls and directing them appropriately
Responding to emails and client enquiries in a professional and friendly manner
Greeting office visitors and supporting with general front-desk duties
Creating, updating, and maintaining client or staff records (digital and paper-based)
Typing letters, reports, and documents using Microsoft Office and other apps
Filing, photocopying, scanning and data entry
Supporting the recruitment process (printing forms, checking references, filing documents)
Monitoring and ordering office supplies and stock (e.g. PPE, stationary)
Preparing training packs or printing induction materials
Assisting with internal events, meetings or awareness days
Supporting the team with additional admin tasks as required

Training
STANDARD & LEVEL
The successful candidate will work towards completing the Level 3 Business Administration Standard from the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education. Delivered by Blackpool and The Fylde College offering expert tuition and exceptional facilities.
Personalised programme
Your B&FC apprenticeship is made up of several different elements and each one reflects your individual abilities and career goals. Our expert tutors and assessors have relevant industry experience and will support you to achieve all your goals.
Off-the-job training
Developing your skills at work is called on-the-job training, 20% of your apprenticeship (equal to one full day a week) will be ‘off-the-job’. This might include attending College, tackling projects, online learning, coaching, shadowing, or training for your job.
Stacks of support
Assessment mostly takes place in the workplace. When you start, you will be allocated a skills coach, who will visit you at least once a month to guide and support you and help you to plan for your future. We will also provide you with specialist support for your English and maths and for any additional needs that you make us aware of.
Qualifications required
Level 3 a minimum of English and maths grades A*- C (9-4) (or equivalent) are desirable OR willingness to complete Functional Skills Level 2 are a requirement to have or to achieve before EPA Gateway
Skills required
Good written and verbal communication skills
Confidence using basic IT (emails, Word, Excel)
Good attention to detail and organisation
Reliable, punctual and able to maintain confidentiality
Someone who has a passion for care
Prospects
Our prospects vary but we have split our career ladders into 2 categories:
Clerical:
Admin > Coordinator > Senior Coordinator > Deputy Management > Branch Management > Registered Manager (regulated) > Specialist Manager > Area Manager > Non-Exec Director.
Community:
HCA > Senior > Team Leader > Specialist > AHP (supported with nursing-delegated training)

Duration 18 Months
