Summary

Location: Birmingham - Hybrid Work Pattern Rate:

Hays is working in partnership with a local council to recruit an Interim Head of Benefits and Revenues. This opportunity has arisen due to a recent restructuring within the organisation, creating a new leadership role within the Revenues and Benefits service.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective leadership across all operational teams within Revenues and Benefits, ensuring consistent implementation of the Council's performance management framework.
  • Manage the Revenues and Benefits Service budget, ensuring expenditure remains within agreed limits and the service delivers value for money.
  • Develop specifications for external contracts supporting revenue and benefits services.
  • Monitor and improve performance, including maximising collection rates for Council Tax, Non-Domestic Rates, benefit overpayments, and general debt.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience working within a local authority setting.
  • Fully qualified accountant with strong financial acumen.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing complex service areas and driving performance improvement
