Summary

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within a small team supporting a lady with complex health needs to live as independently as possible in her own tenancy with her own dedicated support team to meet her specific needs

Working within our team will give you the opportunity to support a fun lady with a great sense of humour. Part of the role includes supporting her with different activities and for her to be included in all aspects of independent living skills within her own home.

Some of her hobbies include; going out for walks, visiting attractions in the local area and visiting places in her car. She also enjoys attending local clubs and activities so she can socialise with her friends and the people she knows well in the local community.
She would want you to have great communication skills, be confident, flexible, show initiative, as well as working well within a team and to have a good sense of humour.

Requirements

To promote the independence and develop skills for service user.
Provide assistance and guidance/training to service user in all household tasks.
Assist service user to manage areas of weekly budgeting.
Enable service user to develop social skills and integrate as fully as possible into their Community.
To work in different locations and services when needed within Moray Council.
To uphold social work values, to ensure good working practice including understanding and awareness of health and safety.
To work positively with other agencies and services to ensure the highest level of care.
Contribute to the maintenance of service users records.
General Duties.
Attend Team Meetings and 6 monthly reviews and ensure accurate record keeping.

The Individual

Experience which would give insight into working with adults with a learning disability.
Experience of handling cash.
Ability to demonstrate a satisfactory level of literacy and numeracy.
Budgeting skills.
Ability to undertake household skills to a required standard.
Ability to plan and implement a healthy diet plan, prep and prepare meals.
Ability to record information accurately.
Self confident and self motivated.
Active listening and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with service user and staff at all levels.
Ability to resolve problems and cope with day to day pressures.
Flexible and adaptable.
Ability to work independently and/or as part of an effective team.
Confident approach to challenging situations.
Ability to encourage and enable service user.
A positive and supportive attitude to service user.
Effective organisational skills including time management.
You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.
Calm, patient and non-judgemental attitude.
Appreciation, acceptance of and a commitment to the importance of confidentiality.
Willing to accept direction/delegation.
Must be physically able to undertake a range of movements when carrying out personal care and domestic tasks.
Must be able to handle equipment/people in accordance with moving and handling regulations.
Flexibility to meet the needs and demands of the service.
