Summary
About the role
An exciting position has become available to join Rochdale Borough Council’s Early Years & Childcare Advisory Team. We are a committed team that supports the Private, Voluntary and Independent sector of Early Years and Childcare registered providers in the borough.
The Early Years & Childcare Advisor works with the Early Years & Childcare Advisory Teacher to ensure the effective implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in Early Years settings, in order to increase the number of children who access their early years education in an Ofsted graded good or better setting and to provide targeted support for providers that are judged to be less than Good.
You will support early years providers to embed relevant pathways and interventions within Rochdale’s School readiness strategy and action plan in order to raise attainment for all children and narrow the gap between the most disadvantaged and the rest and improve school readiness.
You will provide pedagogical leadership to further improve quality and outcomes of early education and learning activity in early year’s childcare providers and Children’s Centres.
You will also support wraparound childcare providers to deliver quality before school, after school and holiday care in line with Ofsted’s Compulsory Childcare Registration.
About you
We are looking for an experienced early years practitioner with a proven track record of exceptional practice and the ability to train, inspire, support and challenge early years practitioners in order to improve the quality of provision, teaching and learning, attainment and outcomes for the children in Rochdale. You will:
- Ensure all practitioners understand the principles and content of the Early Years Foundation Stage and know how to put them into practice.
- Support practitioners in acknowledging the various influences and transitions experienced by a child from both inside and outside the setting.
- Promote current legal requirements, national policies and guidance on school readiness, health and safety, safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children.
- Be up to date with latest relevant research and theories and engage in continuous updating of own skills and knowledge.
- Have excellent communication and presentation skills
- Be organised, self-disciplined and reliable
- Have experience of partnership working with professionals from relevant agencies
- A track record in successfully implementing change
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships
