Position Summary:
The Commis Waiter at Ishbilia Restaurant plays a vital role in supporting the front-of-house (FOH) operations, working closely under the supervision of the Restaurant Manager and senior waiting staff. With prior experience in a similar environment, the Commis Waiter is expected to provide high-quality service while upholding the standards of one of London’s most renowned Lebanese restaurants. This role requires strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of service etiquette, and the ability to learn and communicate menu knowledge, including ingredients and allergens, to assist the wider team in delivering a seamless and memorable guest experience.

Key Responsibilities:
Guest Service & Table Support:
• Assist in setting up and resetting tables to ensure the restaurant is fully prepared before and after service.
• Greet guests in a courteous and professional manner, supporting a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
• Support senior waiters in delivering food, beverages, and service items promptly and accurately.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of service areas, ensuring tables are cleared and reset efficiently.
• Follow the instructions of the Restaurant Manager and assist in any front-of-house duties as directed.
Food & Beverage Knowledge:
• Learn and retain detailed knowledge of the full menu, including dish ingredients, preparation methods, and presentation.
• Understand allergen information and be able to communicate clearly with guests and colleagues.
• Stay updated on daily specials and seasonal menu changes.
• Observe and assist in answering guest questions related to the food and dining experience.
Operational Support:
• Ensure service stations are fully stocked with clean glassware, cutlery, crockery, and condiments.
• Assist in the polishing and preparation of all service items in line with restaurant standards.
• Uphold health and safety practices by maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in all FOH areas.
• Support team operations during busy service periods, ensuring smooth coordination between team members.

Skills and Experience Required:
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a similar role within a high-end or fine-dining restaurant.
• Familiarity with Mediterranean or Middle Eastern cuisine is an advantage.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong service mindset.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail, personal presentation, and customer service standards.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
