Are you a nurturing and proactive EYFS Teaching Assistant looking to support pupils with additional needs in Reception and Year 1?

About the Role

Long Term Futures are working with a well-supported primary school in NG18 to appoint an experienced EYFS Teaching Assistant. This full-time position focuses on supporting children with speech, language and communication needs, autism, and developmental delay across Reception and Year 1.

You will play a vital role in promoting early communication, using tools like Makaton and visual aids, while providing both 1:1 and small group support. A calm, patient, and flexible approach is key, alongside experience working in early years and supporting SEN pupils.

Key Responsibilities
- Support Reception and Year 1 pupils with additional needs, including ASD and communication delay
- Provide 1:1 and small group interventions using structured play and visual supports
- Use Makaton, visual timetables, and consistent routines to aid understanding
- Deliver personal care where required, supporting independence and daily routines
- Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to deliver tailored strategies
- Help create a calm, sensory-aware learning space that promotes inclusion

What We're Looking For
- Level 2/3 TA or Early Years qualification
- SEN experience in EYFS or Key Stage 1 (particularly ASD, SLCN, and personal care)
- Makaton training or confidence with alternative communication tools
- A nurturing and resilient approach with strong behaviour support skills
- Committed to helping young children thrive through personalised support
