Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to join the School of Health and Society as Head of Clinical and Technical Services. This newly created leadership role is a unique opportunity to shape the future of clinical and technical service delivery across the School.

You’ll lead a growing team of technical and clinical support staff, providing strategic direction and ensuring high-quality, efficient services that underpin our teaching, research and clinical activity. As we prepare to move into a new state-of-the-art Health and Wellbeing building in 2026, you will be instrumental in designing the systems and processes that ensure we are ready to deliver a first-class experience to our students, staff and service users.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in operational leadership within a health, clinical or educational environment, who is passionate about continuous improvement, service excellence, and collaborative working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional leadership and effective management of the School’s clinical and technical services, supporting a culture of high standards, accountability and excellent customer service.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of clinical and technical support teams, ensuring services are safe, efficient, and aligned with academic delivery needs.
  • Lead on strategic planning and delivery of services in preparation for the new Health and Wellbeing building, working with senior colleagues to align resources, people, systems and infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, regulatory and quality assurance standards, including those associated with professional, statutory and regulatory bodies (PSRBs).
  • Work in close partnership with academic leaders, clinical educators and professional services to support curriculum delivery, student experience, and research activity.
  • Manage budgets, staff and equipment, driving service improvement and innovation through data-informed planning and effective resource management.
  • Contribute to School-level leadership as a member of the School Professional Services Leadership Team.
