Summary
The successful applicant will partake in the daily elective clinical activity of the Urology Department. They will be expected to attend Consultant-Supervised Theatre Lists and outpatient clinics they can expect to be trained to manage Urological emergencies out of hours. It will be favourable if they have experience with performing flexible cystoscopy (either with trainer scrubbed or independent), but not considered to be mandatory. Furthermore, the post holder will partake in a 1-in-7 Registrar of the week rota (0800-1700), alongside the rest of the on call team which consist of a Consultant of the Week (who has all other elective activity cancelled), 2 Urology SHOs (covering Wards and Emergency Department), 1 FY1 and 1 Physicians Assistant. The overnight/weekend on call comprises of a 1-in-7, 24/7 middle grade rota - compliant with EWTD and the 2018 Junior Doctors Contract as stipulated by NHS Employers. The department is busy, but is friendly and welcoming and committed to training. This role is ideal for progression through to higher specialist urological training.
