Summary


To independently lead the dietetics service for the neurosciences and trauma specialties.

Responsible for providing expert dietetic assessment, treatment and advice to a specialist caseload of patients on the neurosciences (including neurology, neurotrauma, neurosurgery, neurorehabilitation) and trauma wards.

To work alongside the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide an effective service including attending and contributing to ward rounds, board rounds and MDT meetings.

To manage home enteral feeding discharges independently, liaising with all relevant specialist services to achieve this in a timely manner.

To use advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist support and advice to dietetic and other clinical staff within Barts Health.

To support Band 5 and 6 dietitians in the provision of nutritional support to complex patients and developing their skills and knowledge in this area

To be responsible for planning and delivering specialist training to medical staff, nurses and student and other health care professionals in the surgical field

Partake in the development of trust wide policies, protocol and guidelines

To ensure that audit, quality improvement and research is undertaken on a regular basis to ensure that practice is evidence based

The Royal London Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Dietitian to join our Neurosciences, Trauma and Stroke Team. You will lead the Dietetics service for neurosciences and trauma patients in one of London’s four major trauma centres.

The role will lead the dietetics service on the Neurosciences and Trauma wards which provides specialist dietetic input for a variety of patients including those under neurology, neurotrauma, neurosurgery and rehabilitation services. This will be an exciting opportunity to work autonomously to develop the dietetic service in these specialist areas. There will also be the opportunity to line manage junior staff members along with supporting student training and contributing to teaching and training for a variety of staff in the Trust. The ability to be flexible and organised is a key attribute of the successful candidate along with excellent communication skills.
