This is a Full Time, Permanent position.

The location of this role is National where we offer hybrid working, you will be based in one of our following offices and from home - Newcastle, York, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Cambridge.

Salary

National: £40,545 - £45,000

Greater London+: £43,651 - £48,000

What you will be doing

This role is in Regions Group - a multi-disciplinary team of experts, providing advice to owners, Local Authorities and communities. You will work very closely with our Development Economics Director who is based in London.

This is a national role with some travel to the London Head Office and other Historic England regional sites across England, as well as online meetings, providing professional development economics advice to our local, regional teams; acting as the in-house source of specialist knowledge on all aspects of development viability, including property development, investment and valuation, and the connection to development planning matters.

Working closely and proactively with Regions Group teams as well as our Policy and Evidence and Legal teams providing property advice, you will:

Aid an understanding of the financial viability of proposals for new development or for the reuse of historic buildings

Aid an understanding of the economic market as a context to setting out the issues facing historic towns and cities, (e.g issues facing our historic high streets, industrial buildings, or churches).

Advise on the commissioning of, and content of, options appraisals

Identify fiscal incentives for owners and developers.

Please note: this is a national role with some travel to London and across England, as well as online meetings. Site inspections will be undertaken when deemed necessary. Travel will sometimes involve overnight stays.

Who we are looking for

Chartered Surveyor (RICS or equivalent) with considerable post-qualification experience in valuation and development work;

Demonstrable experience in producing and analysing development appraisals;

Demonstrable experience of using development appraisal software – e.g. ARGUS.

Ability to be proactive in establishing contacts and working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and partner organisations;

Excellent organisational skills in planning a full workload, travelling throughout England and operating independently;

Excellent oral and written communication skills.
