Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer
You must be eligible to work in the UK.
Working Hours: 40 hours per week: 07.30am – 16.30pm (although this may vary with demands of the role)
Working Days: Monday – Friday
Salary: From £35,000.00 per year, dependent on experience.
As a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer for GCL Food Ingredients based in Newthorpe, you’ll be joining an industry leader and performing various duties within our ever-growing production facility.
Established in 1964, GCL Food Ingredients is a manufacturer and supplier to both foodservice and industrial customers. We aim to work closely with both our customers and suppliers to create a food chain partnership. This brings together all NPD teams to work not only on innovation and market trends but to help inspire the next generation of meals to our client’s consumers.
The role:
This role requires a qualified Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join the team and provide preventative and reactive maintenance.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day smooth running of the site with a clear view of our production objectives and targets.
Main Duties:
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities on machinery and equipment in line with the scheduled plan.
• Ensure equipment is fit for purpose on a daily basis and that associated paperwork is updated and tracked, as per PPM schedules to aid an efficient Maintenance Plan.
• Report all deficiencies to the Engineering Manager or relevant department Manager for action.
• Attend breakdowns as necessary and repair in a safe and timely manner.
• Document and monitor all downtime and breakdowns. Complete all relevant paperwork, breakdown reports and breakdown analysis to ensure that accurate information is recorded on all engineering activity and issues.
• Carry out repairs to production machinery and equipment.
• Provide support to other Engineers during major breakdowns or where a number of operational engineering priorities exist.
• Contribute to the development of relevant policies and procedures and Health & Safety documentation to ensure that all activity complies with relevant legislation.
• Take personal accountability (and provide advice and guidance to Production Operatives) for the safe handling of plant and equipment.
• Ensure that all housekeeping standards are maintained on a daily basis in the work place and that all activity complies with relevant Health & Safety and on-site procedures.
• Complete Risk Assessments and Method Statements as and when required.
• Control activities of contractors onsite, ensuring that all permits to work and relevant documentation is completed, approved and executed in a safe manner and in line with company procedures.
• Work with the Engineering Manager to ensure that all spare parts are budgeted and accounted for, and that accurate records are maintained of parts used, striving to reduce contractor costs by completing work internally where possible.
• Follow all Health and Safety policies, practices and standards, always taking personal accountability for safe working practices.
• To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
Requirements:
• Mechanical skills.
• Electrical Skills (18th edition desirable).
• Tig welding desirable but not a necessity.
• Electrical control systems knowledge.
• Detailed understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Working knowledge of PLCs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to work within a team environment but also have the ability to work using your own initiative.
• Be available to work from Monday – Friday. Occasional Saturday if requested and desired.
