Summary
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Monmouthshire to assist with the appointment of a Ground Maintenance Operative, on a 2-months contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £12.21- £15.48 per hour
Summary:
Monmouthshire County Council is seeking a proactive and dependable Ground Maintenance Operative to deliver high-quality outdoor maintenance services as part of the Building Services & Maintenance team. The role involves working on public open spaces, verges, schools, cemeteries, and contracted sites to maintain a safe, clean, and sustainable environment. Operatives may also assist with cleansing tasks and occasional waste collection during emergencies or when required.
Responsibilities:
Carry out grass cutting using handheld and ride-on equipment across various sites including open spaces and schools.
Maintain horticultural areas including shrub beds and bedding plants.
Perform litter picking and emptying of litter bins in parks, verges, and other public areas.
Undertake landscaping duties, including arboriculture and the maintenance of sports facilities.
Operate machinery and equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and health and safety guidelines.
Experience:
Experience using grounds maintenance machinery (e.g., ride-on mowers, hedge trimmers).
Arboriculture or landscaping experience.
Previous experience in a grounds maintenance or similar outdoor role.
Essentials:
A clean, valid UK driving licence.
HGV licence.
Strong understanding of Health and Safety protocols.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to undertake training relevant to the role.
Basic knowledge of sports turf and line marking.
Welsh language skills.
