Summary

At Lancaster University, we’re not just keeping pace with digital transformation in Higher Education — we’re leading it. As a globally recognised institution, innovation runs deep in our DNA. Our IT Partnering and Innovation Team (ITPI) builds bold, human-centred solutions that reimagine how staff and students interact with technology, wherever they are in the world.

We’re looking for a UX-UI Developer who thinks beyond code. Someone who understands the value of design thinking, cares deeply about user experience, and is excited to prototype, iterate, and build with purpose. This is a maternity cover and will be until the end of March 2026.

As our UX-UI Developer, you’ll play a key part in a cross-functional team that develops high-impact mobile and web experiences. You'll contribute across the full development stack — but this isn’t just a coding role. You’ll help shape ideas, test hypotheses, and bring to life digital tools that make a difference.

You will

  • Design and build responsive applications using a variety of technologies from React to C#.
  • Work with both AWS and Azure, using modern DevOps practices.
  • Champion UX best practices and contribute to our design thinking workshops.
  • Mentor students and junior team members as part of our innovation culture.
  • Explore and experiment with emerging frameworks and technologies.

Who We’re Looking For

You’ll need:

  • Solid experience in React, C#, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • An interest in human-centred design, UI/UX, and iterative development.
  • Familiarity with Git and good version control practices.
  • Curiosity, flexibility, and a willingness to work outside your comfort zone.

If you thrive in collaborative environments, enjoy solving complex problems, and are always learning — we want to hear from you.
