Summary
Venepuncture and Specimen Collection: Safely perform blood draws and collect specimens following local protocols, ensuring accurate labelling and preparation for onward transportation. Baseline Observations: Carry out vital signs monitoring, including blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, and pulse oximetry, accurately recording findings and alerting clinical staff to any concerns. Electrocardiograms (ECGs): Perform ECGs as requested by clinicians, ensuring patient comfort and quality of recordings. Minor Operations Support and Chaperoning: Assist clinicians during minor procedures, prepare clinical rooms, and act as a chaperone during examinations in accordance with practice policies. Vaccination Administration: Administer vaccines such as flu and pneumococcal immunisations once appropriately trained and competent, supporting public health programmes. New Patient Health Checks: Conduct health assessments for new patients, gathering essential clinical information to assist clinicians in their care planning. Clinical Stock and Facilities Management: Maintain clinical areas by managing stock levels, ordering supplies, monitoring fridge temperatures, and ensuring compliance with infection prevention and control standards. Responsibilities also include safe disposal of clinical waste and replacement of sharps bins.*Not limited to Health Promotion: Support the practice in delivering health promotion initiatives and provide opportunistic advice to patients on healthy lifestyle choices.
