Summary

Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a two-form entry primary school in Runcorn that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking to appoint a number of reliable and motivated teaching assistants for long-term full-time temporary contracts. These roles are based within a reception class, supporting a small group of pupils with a dual diagnosis of ASD and non-verbal on a 1:1 basis.

Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will offer 1:1 support to a group of 5 pupils within the reception that have a dual diagnosis of ASD and non-verbal. Although these pupils all have a similar diagnosis, they all have varying needs, different levels of capacity and vastly different personalities, so the ability to take a pupil-centred approach to their education is imperative. You will integrate your new pupils into the main reception classroom at varying points of the school day and deliver bespoke interventions on a 1:1 basis. These interventions will vary depending on the pupil and their EHCP but will typically consist of phonics, and speech and language. As you will be supporting pupils that are non-verbal, you will also use Makaton and PECs to communicate. Other duties will consist of positive behaviour support and personal/intimate care.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable experience supporting children and young people, as well as:

  • Experience supporting SEN (preferably ASD and or non-verbal)
  • Experience using PECs and Makaton
  • Be comfortable with personal/intimate care
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract (32.5 hours per week)

What you'll get in return
If you are successful in your application, you will recieve the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant, as well as a wide range of benefits, which include:

  • Free training
  • Upfront cost of DBS covered
  • Long-term contract
  • Competitive rate of pay
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Company pension scheme
  • Long-term contract
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
  • Refer a Friend scheme
