Sous Chef – £14.50 per Hour | 30 Hours | Residential Care Home

Job Type: Part-time, Permanent

Our client, a small and welcoming residential care home with a “Good” CQC rating, is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Sous Chef to join their kitchen team. This is a rewarding opportunity for a culinary professional who takes pride in preparing nutritious, home-style meals for older adults in a friendly and supportive setting.

What We’re Looking For

  • Sous Chef experience or a background in catering for care homes, schools, healthcare, or similar environments
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above)
  • Knowledge of allergies, dietary needs, and texture-modified diets
  • Passion for food and creativity in the kitchen
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills
  • A positive attitude and commitment to resident wellbeing

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of fresh, seasonal meals tailored to residents’ needs, including special diets and modified textures
  • Support the Head Chef with menu planning, kitchen organisation, and daily operations
  • Ensure all food is prepared to the highest hygiene and safety standards
  • Assist with stock rotation, food storage, and ordering as required
  • Maintain a clean, well-organised kitchen environment at all times
  • Help foster a calm, collaborative kitchen culture
