Role Overview:
We believe in being “an exceptional school for all” and that includes our wraparound provision. You will play a key role in ensuring this ethos shines through before and after the school day. As the Head of Education and Welfare, you will oversee the day-to-day running and management of the Breakfast and Afterschool Club.

You’ll manage a team of up to 8 staff, ensuring high standards of care and a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere.

You will be the first point of contact for parents and school colleagues, responsible for the welfare of both children and your team. You will also enjoy the opportunity to plan and run the club around the children’s interests, as well as your own creative passions.

Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organise and evaluate an inclusive, safe, caring, and stimulating environment
Be a positive role model and lead your team with motivation, empathy, and accountability
Organise and deliver team training, appraisals, and meetings to support staff development
Maintain all required records and complete relevant administration, including risk assessments, incident forms and attendance
Attend training and reflect on your practice to ensure continuous improvement
Provide nurturing emotional support for children at all times
Manage behaviour positively, following the school’s relational approach
Welcome and communicate with parents, carers and visitors warmly and professionally
Act as Safeguarding Lead and SENCo for the club, with direction from the school’s DSL and SENCo
Build strong working relationships with school staff to ensure joined-up support for children
Take ownership of resolving parental concerns, complaints, and ongoing issues
Oversee first aid provision and ensure related documentation is completed accurately
Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by senior leadership

What we can offer you:
At Heyes Lane, we recognise that to support our children well, we must first support our staff. As our Head of Education and Welfare, you’ll benefit from:
A warm, caring school ethos where staff well-being is prioritised and actively supported
A family-first Senior Leadership Team that truly understands the importance of worklife balance
A creative and nurturing environment where you can grow professionally without overwhelming demands
A strong, supportive staff team that shares the workload and ensures everyone feels valued
Children who are curious, kind, and eager to thrive making every day fulfilling and rewarding
A committed and supportive Governing Board that champions staff well-being alongside high expectations
Positive relationships with engaged parents and carers who support and respect your role
A role that fits within term-time only working, giving you essential time to rest, recharge and enjoy a healthy balance

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and will take place on Monday 7 July at 9.15 am these can be arranged by contacting the school office on 0161 973 9850 or by emailing the School Business Manager Denise Clark, sbm@heyeslane.co.uk
