Summary
Key Job Responsibilities To provide accurate and efficient dispensing of prescriptions in accordance with standard operating procedures Successfully completing the dispensing assessment and accurately dispense medicines. Dispensing and labelling prescriptions accurately, safely and in a timely fashion. Maintaining accurate manual and computer records. Communicating with other members of the pharmacy team, customers and patients to solve problems and ensure high standards of service. Supporting optimal stock management including date checking. 2. To effectively handle prescriptions and associated interactions with patients, ensuring a positive and professional user experience, by: Communicating with and assisting patients, their representatives face to face, over the telephone or by electronic methods in a polite and efficient manner. Working within the limits of knowledge, skills and responsibilities and making appropriate referrals to other members of the dispensary team in accordance with standard operating procedures. Receiving prescription from patients, their representatives and Practice staff and obtaining information to enable the dispensing team to safely prepare the medicines. Taking payments in cash and electronically and confirming entitlement to exemption. Handing out dispensed medicines and providing appropriate counselling to patients or their representative about their medicines within the limits of knowledge and competency. Maintaining accurate records of transactions and filing prescriptions. There may also be a requirement to undertake other similar duties as part of this post in order to provide a quality service. These will be consistent with the level of responsibilities outlined above.
