Summary

Quantity Surveyor - Co-op Property
£58,000 - £60,000 plus benefits (Work Level 5)
Manchester city centre, in this role you'll work in a hybrid way splitting your time between home and the office (find out more about our hybrid working policy at https://jobs.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy). This role will also involve carrying out occasional site visits.
9-month fixed-term contract

We're looking for a motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our Property team at Co-op.
In this role, you'll be responsible for measuring and producing feasibility and budget cost estimates, building cost plans using agreed schedules of rates and supply chain costs, working closely with the delivery team to challenge and agree costs, valuations and final accounts. You'll be responsible for ensuring project costs are accurately monitored, forecasted and reported.

What you'll do


* Measure builders work and services installation to produce feasibility and budget cost estimates to assess the viability of projects from a financial perspective
* Attend site meetings to ensure all abnormal costs are captured, any value engineering opportunities are identified and final accounts are promptly reconciled
* Use agreed schedules of rates, direct supply chain costs and quotes to prepare cost plans, challenging and agreeing costs where necessary
* Provide accurate project cost monitoring, forecasting and reporting to completion in line with budget, implementing cost control measures as necessary
* Collaborate with contractors and the Professional Team to ensure that projects meet design and format manuals, technical specifications, blueprints and guidelines
* Assist with contract administration and dispute settlement, providing guidance on the interpretation of contracts and contractual clauses

This role will suit people who have


* Achieved a relevant quantity surveying qualification, or you have equivalent experience
* Experience of working with both clients and contractors
* Previous construction or retail experience
* Experience of working under JCT (Joint Contracts Tribunal) contracts
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with others at all levels of the business
