The Role
Gonville & Caius College is looking for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to support us in our delivery of dining vision at the college. You will be creative and have a passion for food with the ability to cook to a high standard with a minimum rosette standard food.
Responsible to the Head Chef, the role of the Sous Chef is to support the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef in the co-ordination and oversight of the kitchen operations, and the leadership of the kitchen team to deliver to the highest possible standard of dining for our students, Fellows, staff and conference guests. The service includes the provision of both regular meals and special internal functions, including for conference delegates.
The role will support the Head Chef in all aspects of food preparation to the highest possible standard. You will take pride in customer satisfaction and seek to instil creativity into teams on a daily basis, whilst managing menu planning, food safety, health and safety checks and appropriate food ordering, amongst other responsibilities. The Sous Chef works most closely with the Head Chef but also liaises with the Head of Catering, Food & Beverage Manager and the Fellows Butler.
This is a permanent full-time role (40 hours per week working 5 days out of 7). The ability and willingness to adopt a flexible approach to working hours is expected, as this role covers holidays and other absences and you may be required to work additional hours from time to time in order to fulfil the requirements of the role and the needs of the college.
The annual full-time salary for this role is £37,000.
