HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) - Alternative Provision - Stoke - Temporary Supply Role | September Start | £105-£115 per day
Are you a passionate and resilient HLTA looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? Hays Education is working in partnership with a well-established alternative provision setting in Stoke-on-Trent to recruit a dedicated HLTA for a temporary supply role starting in September.
Your New RoleAs a HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of complex needs, including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, autism spectrum conditions (ASC), and behavioural difficulties. You will work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored interventions, support learning across the curriculum, and help create a safe, nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering planned learning activities and interventions under the guidance of teaching staff
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, adapting approaches to meet individual needs
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Assisting with the development of individual education plans and behaviour support plans
  • Contributing to assessment and progress tracking
  • Supporting the wider team in creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • HLTA status or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • Experience working with children with additional needs, ideally in an alternative provision or SEN setting
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, empathetic approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners and helping them reach their potential
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
