Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen to be the Lead Nurse for PCCU clinical education and practice. This will involve being a visible proactive role-model in the clinical environment, who leads practice development, clinical education and the professional development of nursing and support staff within the Paediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU).Lead in the development and advancement of clinical practice, emphasising the implementation of evidence-based knowledge into practice. Provides leadership, advice and support, fostering a learning culture which values safe high quality patient care. Works in partnership with the matrons / ward/department managers to ensure the multi-disciplinary team all work together to achieve agreed, common goals/outcomes. Ensures the highest standards of care are in place and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary teams, implements and maintains systems and processes.

To lead on clinical education and practice development. To plan, support and lead on the local Paediatric Critical Care Course applications for training in speciality.

To develop, support and implement new guidelines, polices and SOPS.

To support with incident management, feedback learning, implement changes in practice and ensure.

To plan, support and lead on staff development post foundational course competencies completion.

Supporting ongoing development for band progression into leadership roles.

To plan, support and lead on local training in speciality competencies.

To work closely with the current PCCU education to plan, deliver and evaluate clinical education and practice development.

To work closely with the Children's Hospital education, preceptorship and QRS team to ensure joined up working and shared learning is achieved.

Will also be expected to maintain clinical competency by working 1 day per rostered off duty.

Will be required to take down non-clinical activity to support winter pressures and sudden and unexpected staffing shortages or surging in patient numbers to maintain patient safety.

Will have line manager responsibilities for a team of 8-10 which will include leadership support.
