Summary
An exciting new vacancy has arisen for a full-time Consultant Clinical Haematologist to join the malignant haematology service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, based on the Hammersmith Hospital site. This post will form an essential part of the white cell service supporting the inpatient and outpatient care of patients with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) and Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPN).
The Haematology Department comprises a large practice covering the whole range of blood diseases including malignancies and stem cell transplantation. There are 60 available inpatient beds over three wards, and a dedicated Haematology Centre housing a busy outpatient department, and an expanding Daycare and Ambulatory Care Unit.
The Imperial College Academic Centre for Haematology is fully integrated with our NHS departments of Clinical and Laboratory Haematology. Haematology and Cellular Therapy are central to the cancer theme of the Biomedical Research Centre, and our goals of clinical excellence and translational medicine are aligned with those of the Academic Health Science Centre. The Haematology Clinical Trials Unit oversees more than 50 studies in both malignant and non-malignant diseases. There are regular research meetings within the Department and the post-holder will be encouraged to participate in and initiate clinical trials.
