Early Years Gaelic Co-ordinator, Lewis & Harris (9440)
15 hours per week, Fixed Term to 31 March 2026
£11,615 - £12,053 per annum, inclusive of £1,159 Distant Islands Allowance per annum

You will be required to raise awareness of and promote the benefits of bilingualism and multilingualism to parents with children under 5; develop and provide information to existing 0-5 groups about Gaelic language immersion, working alongside the Early Years staff team and Comunn nam Parant Officers; develop and deliver services in Gaelic for parents with children aged 0-3 years throughout the islands; and co-ordinate and deliver a range of events and activities throughout the islands which promote Gaelic Medium Education.

You must have a knowledge of child development and how children learn, a knowledge and understanding of play and its importance in young children’s learning and development and also knowledge of external Gaelic agencies and current developments in the language. You should have a willingness to develop skills and take part in any training, experience of business planning and funding applications and experience of working with young children.

The ability to read and write in Gaelic is essential.

You must have a full unrestricted, clean driving licence and access to a car.

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance.
