Job Description:
Are you a Gentoo resident (customer) with a passion for housing and customer service? If so, this opportunity could be the perfect fit for you! We're exclusively inviting our customers—anyone living in a Gentoo property—to apply for the role of Customer Support Assistant in one of our Housing teams
As the first point of contact for customers, you will provide exceptional service, whether in person or over the phone, while also supporting the team with essential administrative tasks.
This full-time position (36 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with an early finish at 12:30 pm on Fridays) offers flexibility, as we’re open to considering part-time hours too.
The position is mainly based within our Washington and/or Houghton offices. We do provide services across the city of Sunderland and there may be a requirement to cover in another location on occasion.
The role is subject to a basic DBS paid for by Gentoo.
Key responsibilities will include:
Welcoming customers and managing enquiries with professionalism, warmth, and respect.
Providing vital administrative support, including updating records, arranging appointments, and reception duties.
Working closely with colleagues across the Group to ensure services are tailored to meet customer needs.
Engaging with customers to keep their information up to date and ensuring accuracy in records.
What we are looking for:
Experience working in a customer-focused environment and handling administrative tasks is essential.
Highly developed communication skills with an ability to engage with others in an empathetic and supportive manner.
Proven ability to plan and manage workload effectively, ensuring deadlines are met.
Competent IT skills, with confidence in using various systems and software.
A good understanding of challenges affecting social housing providers and their customers.
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work to deadlines.
Confidence in working with numbers and interpreting data.
