About the Role
Reporting to the Lead Finance Manager, you’ll help shape policy, deliver financial strategy, and provide valuable support to both internal stakeholders and elected members. You’ll contribute to the production of management and statutory accounts, offer financial insight into service planning, and play a key role in maximizing value and managing financial risk.
Flexible working hours may be considered for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver timely, accurate financial advice across departments and services
Provide and present robust financial reports, returns, and dashboards
Contribute to budget planning, forecasting, and monitoring
Develop financial systems and train end users
Lead on financial risk assessment and resource allocation
Supervise and support junior finance staff
Guide decision-making through financial modelling and scenario analysis
✅ What You’ll Bring
AAT, CCAB, or CIMA part or fully qualified (or equivalent experience)
Strong understanding of Local Government finance and systems
Proven track record in providing senior financial guidance
High level of literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills (Word, Excel, Lotus Notes)
Ability to analyse complex data and translate it into actionable insight
Confident communicator with excellent presentation and training skills
Skilled in prioritising and organising workload to meet deadlines
