Neway are looking for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join our client based with Plymouth City Council.
Rate: £190.11 PAYE / £250.00 Umbrella (Inside IR35)
Contract: Full-time | 37 hours per week
Duration: 7th July 2025 – 23rd September 2025

About the Role
You’ll be at the forefront of promoting and advising on all aspects of health, safety and wellbeing across Council services. Supporting the Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing, you’ll contribute to strategic planning, lead investigations, coach managers, and drive performance improvements aligned to ISO 45001 and other standards.
This is a pivotal role in shaping a positive safety culture while ensuring legal compliance and reducing risk.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver expert H&S advice, training, and consultancy services
Investigate incidents and support lessons learned programmes
Liaise with enforcement agencies such as the HSE and Fire Authority
Develop learning materials and analyse training compliance
Contribute to the annual H&S business plan and service priorities
Foster a culture of wellbeing and continuous improvement
What We're Looking For
Degree or equivalent qualification in Health & Safety
Graduate Membership of IOSH
Proven experience advising at organisational level within local government or similar sectors
Skilled in digital platforms, DSE assessments, policy development, and risk management
Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and diagnostic skills
Able to lead on projects and engage with diverse stakeholders effectively
