Full time – 37 hours per week,
Main Purpose:
The Level 3 Craft Carpentry & Joinery apprenticeship consist of the following mandatory duties which will be studied two days a week attending Forth Valley College, Stirling Campus for two years.

- Carpentry and Joinery: Roof Construction
- Carpentry and Joinery: Repairs and Maintenance
- Carpentry and Joinery: Second Fixing
- Carpentry and Joinery: Timber Framed Construction and Internal Partitioning Systems
- Carpentry and Joinery: Woodworking Machine Skills
- Carpentry and Joinery: Workshop Practice and Hand Skills

The level 3 Craft Carpentry & Joinery apprenticeship covers a breadth of skills, knowledge and behaviours to prepare apprentices for a national standard assessment. This will be carried out on site by College Assessors. Along with the knowledge, skills and behaviour modules studied in first and second year at college, it involves significant workplace input of:

- Development of skills and transfer of knowledge to skills
- Support to develop the necessary behaviours
- On the job training to build knowledge, skills and behaviours in a variety of situations
- Opportunity to develop their knowledge and abilities through off the job training in normal hours
- Development of interpersonal skills and behaviours with a diverse mix of people such as managers, colleagues, customers and other businesses.


About Serco:
Serco are a hard Facility manager who provide a service to our clients, & The Trust working solely at the Forth Valley Royal Hospital, we undertake our scope of works in many ways.

Within this scope of works, this can be to simply second fix task, to a major project Inc new build. Within this, a carpenter shall learn the true values of being a carpenter from maintain existing fixtures and fittings to first fix and second fix carpentry in many different scenarios.
On every task it is mandatory on this site and part of Serco values that the Risk Assessment and Metho Statements (RAMs) are reviewed prior to starting a task. Every task has its own specific Job number to which we undertake on concept, which is our own bespoke interface, meaning every task RAMs are reviewed, images of the task are attached to the job, drawings are reviewed, and job signed off by the client.

Serco’s Due diligence
Serco are confirming that we can onsite undertake all the necessary training & support required for a carpentry apprentice. We shall work under the legal requirement for employment of young apprentices (16-18 years of age) along with keeping children safe in education.
The apprentice shall attend College 2 days a week and work 3 days a week on this site. They will be supervised and trained by our qualified carpenters and/or supervisors on site relevant to their trade.
