Summary
Management Responsibilities: Work in conjunction with the Clinical Team Leader to manage the TB service as required by the Clinical Team Lead. Manage nursing and support staff who provide direct patient care. To ensure that appropriate management systems are in place to provide support and leadership within these areas including: - Service planning and objective setting - Effective communication systems including team and departmental briefings. - Induction, appraisal and identification of training needs for all areas of line management responsibility. Model demand and capacity and to plan the service accordingly Co-ordinate, implement and monitor Clinical Governance processes working to ensure effective and robust mechanisms are in place. To ensure that the Trust's legal and statutory obligations are fulfilled, including taking the lead on the provision of a healthy and safe environment for staff and patients in areas of responsibility. Be responsible for monitoring and investigating incidents and complaints relating to defined clinical areas and departments. Take appropriate action, formulating reports and communicating learning through formal clinical governance structures. To participate with clinical staff, in meetings with patients and or relatives in complex cases to seek clarification and aid resolution. Ensure national and London TB performance targets are met. Ensure TB services support the surveillance and data input required by national agencies i.e UKHSA Clinical Responsibilities: Exercise a high level of personal professional autonomy. Be visible in the clinical area and regularly undertake clinical practice. Case manages patients using advanced clinical judgement to plan, implement and evaluate care for patients with complex social, physical and psychological problems. Initiate and implement changes in clinical practice based on current initiatives and research, but also to provide a leading-edge service based on local and national initiatives. Champion nurse led services and further develop the provision of nurse led clinics incorporating non-medical prescribing. Identify clinical issues within the host sites that reduce quality of care of TB patients. Take the lead in the resolution or ensure appropriate action is taken.
