About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Controller to join our team in Belfast. This critical role involves monitoring and ensuring the quality of workmanship and materials across construction projects. You will be instrumental in ensuring that all construction activities adhere to internal standards, client specifications, and legal regulations. Operating as part of the site delivery or technical team, the Quality Controller acts as a key point of contact for all quality-related matters throughout the lifecycle of a project.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop and maintain project-specific Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) plans in alignment with company procedures and client expectations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify compliance with quality standards, procedures, and regulations.
- Identify and report defects or non-conformances, and support site teams in implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to verify quality of materials and workmanship before installation or incorporation.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of inspections, tests, and compliance checks, including photographic evidence.
- Support site teams with technical advice related to quality issues and ensure quality awareness across teams.
- Contribute to post-completion review and continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications or Required Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in a similar quality control or site inspection role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction standards, materials, and methods (e.g., NHBC, BS/EN standards).
- Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations and CDM requirements.
- CSCS card (appropriate level).
- Proficient in using IT systems for reporting and record-keeping (e.g., Fieldview, Viewpoint, or similar).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- NVQ Level 3 or above in Construction or a relevant trade/discipline.
- Membership of or working towards a professional body (e.g., CIOB, ICWCI).
- Internal auditing qualifications (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor).
- Experience in residential or social housing construction projects.
