Information for the role of HR OfficerTemporary Maternity Cover (up to 12 months) Salary £21,558 per annum (pro rata) for 21.75 hours per week An excellent opportunity to join a prestigious organisation in a varied and fulfilling role in a small friendly team. The HR Officer is responsible for supporting the HR Department in various functions such as recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance with employment law and assisting in developing and implementing HR policies.Your day-to-day duties will include:Coordinating recruitment and selection from start to endUtilising HR knowledge to support performance management, absence management and employee relationsEnsuring adherence to employment law and regulations, maintaining accurate records and documentationPreparing documentation, e.g. letters and contractsResponding to day-to-day general HR queriesKeeping the HR database up-to-date and compliantTo be considered for this role, you will need to bring:CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience (essential)Bachelor’s degree (preferable)At least 2 years’ experience in a HR Generalist role, dealing with employee relations cases such as disciplinary, grievance, performance management etc.Working knowledge of current employment lawStrong organisational and communication skillsAn ability to multitask and handle competing workloadsExcellent skills in Word, Outlook and Excel and use of HR databasesThe ideal candidate will bring relevant HR experience and be looking to extend their skills. Details of the roleThe post of HR Officer is a temporary, part-time role covering maternity leave for up to a period of 12 months. The role is responsible for delivering an efficient and supportive day to day Human Resources service to Downing College.The hours are to be worked over three days of work are from 9.00am to 4.45pm with an unpaid 30-minute lunch break, although there is potential for a degree of flexibility on start/finish times. The annual salary is £21,558 per annum for 21.75 hours per week, which is based on a full-time equivalent of £35,929 per annum (Step 47 on the College Salary Scale).In addition to the salary, we offer an attractive benefits package.
