Summary

Opportunity Overview

The Disability and Inclusion Manager, reporting to the Head of Student Support, is responsible for leading the Disability and Inclusion service, working closely with stakeholders and university staff to implement necessary adjustments for our students. You will be tenacious and resilient, with a passion for delivering service excellence to our students. The Disability and Inclusion Manager oversees a team of Disability Advisers, utilising data to enhance service delivery. Additionally, they are responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations, promoting an inclusive environment, and providing training and guidance to staff on disability matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead services, mentor the team, and foster a culture of empowerment, accountability, and excellence.
  • Formulate and update disability and inclusion policies an processes, ensuring regular review and improvement.
  • Ensure safe, ethical standards of support in line with the Equality Act 2010.
  • Establish effective support arrangements for disabled students.
  • Provide guidance on entitlements within legislative frameworks.
  • Foster a culture of collaborative working across departments, schools and external providers.
  • Offer professional advice focusing on optimal student outcomes based on evidence.
  • Utilise data and feedback to measure service provision and consistency.

About the School or About the Department

The Student Support Department consists of four teams: Triage and Operations, Wellbeing, Respect Cultures and Behaviours, and the Disability Inclusion Service. The team supports students through university life and some of the challenges they may face along the way. Our Disability Inclusion Service is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to disabled students, ensuring they have equal access to educational opportunities and resources. Our service is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all students can thrive academically and personally. We offer tailored support plans, assistive technologies, and non-medical helper services to meet the diverse needs of our students. Through collaboration with various stakeholders, we strive to create a seamless and integrated support system that enhances the student experience and promotes their success.
