Summary

About the Office for Investment (OfI)

Increasing private investment, foreign and domestic, is crucial to the UK’s economic growth and the future prosperity of its citizens. Leveraging private investment is also fundamental to delivering energy transition and establishing international leadership as a science and technology driven economy.

The Office for Investment (OfI) was spun out of Downing Street in January 2021 and is now a joint unit between No.10, HMT and the Department for Business and Trade (DBT).  The OfI is an exciting, creative and dynamic place to work among a motivated and driven team with both commercial and public sector backgrounds. The Office works closely with Secretaries of State, Junior Ministers, and No.10 to deliver the highest-value, highest profile investment propositions.

OfI's vision and mission is to secure investment to drive growth, job creation and increased productivity across the UK. We are proactive and entrepreneurial, delivering ambitious outcomes aligned to the Industrial Strategy and HMG Missions. To become a centre of excellence for attracting and growing investment we want to attract talented people from the private sector and across government who are curious, creative and agile in pursuing emerging opportunities for the UK.

About the Investment Learning Team

The Investment Learning Team works with external partners and DBT colleagues to design and manage an investment-specific learning and development (L&D) programme for DBT staff in the UK and around the world. This programme is known as the Investment Learning Programme (ILP).

We are currently building the ILP from scratch, creating a range of e-learning modules, live training sessions, job aids and other resources to help colleagues achieve the department’s long-term investment goals. As one of the only teams in DBT creating learning in this way, we’re able to design practical and quality content that’s fully focused on investment colleagues’ needs.

With live events in the UK and overseas, a focus on learner data and evaluation and an expanding product list, the ILP is an exciting yet challenging initiative to administer.

We’re looking for an organised, detail-orientated and pragmatic Investment Learning Coordinator to take charge of the administration of the ILP, ensuring we offer colleagues a positive learner experience and continue to evidence our business impact on DBT’s investment work.

Your responsibilities

  • Carry out day-to-day administration tasks on the Learning Management System (such as adding training events, ensuring learners have completed pre-work in time, recording attendance).

    • Venue booking
    • Scheduling
    • Communicating/coordinating with attendees, trainers and internal stakeholders
    • Managing events delivered in the UK and overseas
    • Acting as the single point of contact for all logistical queries
    • Identifying and planning for potential disruptions
    • Handling issues arising on the day of events efficiently
  • Work with the team to produce and distribute internal comms in line with the team’s comms plan.
  • Act as a host in virtual training sessions (distributing links, creating breakout rooms, low-level technical troubleshooting).
  • Follow agreed administrative procedures and identify appropriate process improvements.
  • Record test and evaluation data in spreadsheets, flagging any feedback that needs quick action.
  • Answer queries about training courses in the shared inbox or forward to the appropriate member of the team.
  • Manage the internal procurement process for obtaining digital tools, including researching tools, writing business cases and raising purchase orders.
  • Manage digital tool supplier relationships and subscription renewals.
  • Any other duties reasonably required to support the administration of the Investment Learning programme.
  • (Depending on your interests and skills) assist with the design of learning products, especially e-learning modules.
