Summary

We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a team and help support students with special educational needs.

In this role, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide individual and small group support, helping pupils to access learning and reach their full potential. You will play an important part in creating an inclusive and nurturing environment for all students. Beginning July 2025.

Duties as a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including learning difficulties, autism, ADHD, or social, emotional and mental health needs.

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support inside and outside the classroom.

  • Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering adapted learning activities.

  • Promote positive behaviour and help pupils develop social skills and confidence.

  • Monitor and record pupil progress and communicate with teachers and parents where needed.

  • Help with personal care if required (depending on pupils’ needs).

Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEND (desirable but not essential).

  • Be patient, understanding and flexible.

  • Have good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.

  • Be committed to helping every pupil succeed and feel included as a SEN Teaching Assistant.

  • Be reliable, proactive and able to use their initiative.
